Wow Seoul is a big, busy place. Here's the tube map...
As we saw from the plane on arrival, S Korea is high-rise central, and not surprising given how populous it is : just over 50m people contained in 100,210km2 (apparently that's something like, 1,400 people per mi2 - the UK is just under 700 per mi2). As we saw on landing, you need a lot of blocks of flats to accommodate all those people.
And of course it's an industrial and commercial powerhouse, which reinvented itself since decimation after the war with the North (of which more later this week when we visit the DMZ on Friday)
We're basing ourselves for seven days in the same homestay,
very near a tube stop (Anguk) in the historic area near to the palaces
(having said it's highrise, we've surrounded ourselves with traditional hanok
houses) and traditional restaurants - not that we'll manage such an enormous feast again!
