After a bouncy old
night at anchor off Procida, our route (slightly at an angle!) was a further
west to an ancient volcano, Ventotene, a
3km-long-by-800m-wide member of the Pontine
Islands
with very pretty
harbour, Porto Nuovo, again with pastel-coloured houses
(in regulation shades, surely!) tumbling down the
hill towards the sea
Added to its fine
aspect are Roman ruins (apparently this was whence
adulterous wives were despatched - not so bad,
eh?) ...
